We are a small embryonic church that has grown from scratch (not a church plant) in the village of Braunton near to Barnstaple in North Devon. We have felt God calling us to intentionally gather folk in our area who shared our vision: “All of God for All of Life”. We are informally supported in this by a local church in the area who are mentoring us through the process.
At present there are about 20 of us who began meeting in Sept 2019 in our homes and who now regularly Zoom to teach, meet, break bread, and pray together several times a week. We are also actively prayer walking our neighbourhood in pairs as lockdown rules permit.
It is an exciting phase that we are in as we are ideally set up for a lockdown situation, being small and very committed to each other, perhaps all the more so because of lockdown when our meetings grew in frequency quite rapidly. We are certainly a lot stronger now than we would have been without the restrictions. Our aim is to let Jesus build his church: if that means growing slowly then fine; we want to keep small groups that regularly meet together, modelled on the early church pattern of meeting in homes and public spaces, rather than in large buildings. This may mean we stay as a house church literally and never have a public building. No one is paid a salary and we are actively promoting a non-spectator culture so that everyone feels valued and everyone can serve. We are still putting our website together and you can find out a lot more soon about our statement of faith and our vision. We would value your prayers, and welcome support from Partnership, as we grow and put our heads above the parapet here in the village, for God’s glory, in Jesus’ name, and by the power of his Holy Spirit.
