Reconnecting With The Community At Christmas

I’m working ReNew with a village church in Suffolk. The church has shrunk to about 12 people in the congregation and lost pretty much all connection to the village.

The Covid situation is really serious round our way – so we arranged an outdoors, big-screen, socially distanced Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve. We were thrilled to find that about 50 people turned up, most of them from the village. We kept it short with 5 carols and me talking for about 1 minute in between.

We also prayed for the NHS and showed a video featuring a NHS virtual choir. We have been contacted by two nurses who were present to say that they were moved to tears by that part of the event.

It gives us something to build on in 2021.
