The small company of believers at Heaton Road Church in Peckham had been on the look out for a missional family to join them to reach out into this multi-ethnic part of London – there are 70 languages spoken in the local school and 5000 people living within a radius of 7 minutes’ walk of the church.
When the Director of Ministries at London City Mission introduced the church to Tony and Brenda Ozue and their children, they felt they were the right family for them. Having heard that one of Echoes International’s (EI) strategic priorities was cross-cultural outreach in the U.K., an approach was made, and subsequently approved, to support a Reverse Mission project in Peckham based at Heaton Road Church.
The Ozue family moved into Peckham last month and started work at the beginning of October. John Jenkins (Partnership London Hub) and Rupert Abbott (Missions Director of EI) are working together to provide support to the church and oversight of their missional outreach. Tony has enthusiastically embraced the peer support and training available via the London Hub.
